BEAUCATCHER CHRONICLES is my current "big" project, eventually to be a motley assortment of short stories, novels, novellas, and artwork. The genesis of this growing collection was my short story entitled "For What Nate Did," written in 1999. After a great deal of encouragement—and coaxing—from writer-friends, it now comprises Dancing at The Royal Jade, a serialized 1960s novel, with additional stories and related art pieces in development. This page is where you can always find the ongoing and completed projects in this collection.
Many of the Beaucatcher stories are set in and around Kent Creek, a reimagined version of my hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, with notable influences from other Western NC towns. To learn about the real-world people, places, and events that inspire my stories, join me over in Retracing Asheville, my online "exploration diary" and the repository for all my story research related to the Beaucatcher Chronicles.

Ongoing and Completed Projects in the Beaucatcher Chronicles
I have sooooo many story ideas for this collection that I can only hope to live long enough to see them through. Here's a sneak peek:
-
"Psychedelic Spin" - A Kent Creek short story - in progress.
-
An anthology of five short stories set at Kenilworth Inn/Appalachian Hall in Asheville - up next in the queue, I hope.
-
A short story anthology about five Kent Creek women, spanning the 1940s to the 1970s - partially outlined.
-
A...novel? novella? not sure...about Lillian Clement (1892-1925), aka "Brother Exum," a legislator and attorney born in Black Mountain, NC.
-
Something about the sanatariums around Asheville.
-
...and more.
Oh, so many ideas! I may even try my hand at a mystery.
